Living a Salty Life - Letting Your Light Shine - Being a True Servant

Author : Fred Fishburne
Listen to these powerful words of Jesus, "Salt is good but if it has lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned: It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." What Jesus is saying that if our lives are not salty (holy), men will take what we say concerning the gospel as not being fit to salt down a pile of dung and will cast it away from them. Our witness will have no power and is good for nothing. Listen what the Apostle Paul said concerning this.Philippians 3:8, Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him."I Corinthians 2;4-5, "And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of Power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of man but in the power of God."Colossians 4:5-6 states, Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.Paul is saying to walk in wisdom towards those who have no wisdom that our answers to them may show them Christ. We should be set for the defense of the gospel, living the disciplined life for the furtherance of the gospel, and being willing to suffer for the gospel that we may win Christ in our own lives and in the lives of others. In other words be a living epistle of Christ written in the hearts of all men.Someone must suffer in the flesh for another to be born again in the spirit. This is the way it works. This is what it takes to get the gospel in the hearts of men. The multitudes do not come to Christ because of miracles of healing and blessing, but rather when someone lays down his/her life for the gospel's sake, takes up his/her cross and follows the example of Jesus the servant. The miracles will not take place unless this happens first.Out of all the people that Jesus healed and ministered to in his earthly ministry only 120 of them showed up in the upper room to start the church of the living God. These are they that counted the cost and said, yea Lord, Your will be done at all cost. These are they that are willing to drink the cup that the Father gives. Matthew 10:25 states, It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master and the servant as his Lord. Jesus said in John 18:11, "The cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?"Fred Fishburne has been serving the Lord since 1980.
